What You Will Learn!

  • Redox Reactions : oxidation and reduction
  • Oxidation rules, exceptions in oxidation rules, calculating equivalent weight, the concept of equivalents
  • Complete details about redox reactions and its applications
  • A detailed veiw about every topics in redox reactions

Description

At the end of the course, the students will be able to learn complete details about redox reactions.

The course includes:

  1. Redox reactions: It is a reaction in which both oxidation and reduction reaction take place simultaneously.

  2. Types of redox reaction: There are four types of redox reactions: Intermolecular redox, intramolecular redox, disproportionate redox and co-proportionation redox reaction.

  3. Intermolecular redox reaction: The redox in which one reactant undergoes oxidation and another reactant undergoes reduction reaction.

  4. Intramolecular redox reaction: The redox in which in a given reactant, one element undergoes oxidation and another element undergoes reduction.

  5. Disproportionate redox reaction: The redox in which in a given reactant, same element undergoes both oxidation and reduction reaction.

  6. Co-proportionation redox reaction: It is reverse of disproportionate redox reaction.

  7. How to identify oxidation and reduction reactions: increase in oxidation number is oxidation and decrease in oxidation number is reduction.

  8. How to calculate oxidation number

  9. Oxidation rules: It helps to determine the oxidation number of an element in any molecule, compounds, polyatomic ions and complex compounds.

  10. Application of oxidation rules: These rules help to identify strength of acids and bases, identifying oxidizing agents and reducing agents.

  11. Balancing redox reaction in acidic medium by half reaction method

  12. Balancing redox reaction in basic medium by half reaction method

  13. Balancing redox reaction in acidic medium by oxidation number method.
