THERE ARE TWO MAIN REASONS WHY MOST PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FAIL:
a) One program fits all: Most personal development programs are generic and are targeting the general public. One solution though does not fit everyone. Each demographic has its own challenges and should be treated as such. It is unrealistic as an example to expect that someone who is over 60yo has the same challenges with someone who just finished college and starting their life. We are focusing on helping plus size women and men because this is a demographic where we understand the challenges, we have a genuine interest in helping, and we feel we can provide the most value.
b) Incredible “high”, and disastrous “low”: If you’ve ever been to a motivational seminar you most definitely have experienced the incredible “high” that happens. Everyone is excited, stands up, clapping and dancing and you truly feel that you can conquer the world.
A few days after the event though the buzz wears off and everything is back to normal. When you go back to your everyday life, to an environment that does not support you, eventually you fall back in your old habits and behaviours. Our strategy is providing realistic encouragement that avoids extreme highs and lows and leads to long term transformation. If you expect that you will see huge changes within a few days, it is not going to happen, but if you are willing to put the time, work and effort, transformation is inevitable.
THIS IS WHAT WE RECOMMEND IN ORDER FOR YOU TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS COURSE:
Review the whole course once just to get a feeling as to what it is about. There is no reason to memorize anything. Just watch/listen at a time(s) when there are no distractions and it is the most convenient for you. Then go back to the lectures and review them one by one. Think how the things we say and our strategies apply to you and to your life. You really need to devote time to reflect and think. Maybe some of the things we say, you have heard before. That is good. Repetition and listening to important messages is good. What you need to consider though is that unless you can relate to what has been said, it has absolutely no meaning to you.
We cannot express enough how important it is to reflect on something you heard/learned into your OWN life! Equally important is to listen for gold. We may tell you 10 things and out of the 10 you may like only 1 thing. That 1 thing though may be the thing that you need to do and can completely transform your life!
Make sure that you keep notes when you feel it is appropriate and there are things that you need to remember. Be aware that often thoughts come and go very quickly. Unless you write something down, it can be easily forgotten.
Then chose some techniques that you would like to try and experiment. Start with one - baby steps - especially when your motivation is very low, negative thoughts and procrastination kicks in. Make notes, use your Power Journal and a calendar. Monitor your progress for at least 21 days in order to turn the new process into a habit. Make notes of the results you have achieved. Be aware that there no positive or negative results. It is the effort and taking action that matters. Always reflect and evaluate your progress. Remember that consistency and repetition is the key.
When you are comfortable with one technique, then move to another, and so on.
It really helps having an accountability partner and if you don't have one, get one. An accountability partner can be a friend, a colleague, a mentor, a family member or a professional who keeps track of your progress and holds you accountable. This is the person whom you trust and has only the best interest in mind for you. An accountability partner is not afraid to tell you the truth, and will push you in order to reach your full potential and go after the things that are important for you. Be kind to your accountability partner and accept without resistance the constructive criticism and advice.
Building self-esteem and improving self-confidence will not happen in a day. You will definitely see glimpses of light and you will get very excited, but believing that you will manage to erase everything you thought you knew about yourself in just a few days or weeks is just absurd. You need to make the decision that you will change to who you want to be, and then keep on pushing in a methodical matter (example trying techniques 1 hour every day), and believing.
Do not be discouraged by mishaps. They will happen more often that you may think, but it is the recovery that matters. You will need to get up, dust yourself off, refocus on your goal, and keep on going. Never, never give up!
We designed this course because we have personal experiences and we believe with every inch of our being that transformation is possible. We used to have very low self-confidence and low self-esteem ourselves. We are the best example of what is possible. If we can do it, then you can as well. Everything else is excuses.
